Dolphinwatch Tours

Our passenger vessel, Draíocht, meaning Magic in Irish, is a 52' twin engine Kingfisher, built for us in Falmouth, Cornwall.

Dolphins & Nature

Seeing dolphins is our priority but there is so much more to see in this Special Area of Conservation...

  • An estimated 140 resident bottlenose dolphins
  • Grey seals, pelagic seabirds & coastal species
  • Spectacular cliff scenery
  • Historic maritime landmarks
  • Wild goats

  • 2-2 1/2 hour trip
  • 48 passenger seating
  • Specially designed for best up-close viewing
  • Cabin & toilet
  • Snack bar
  • April - October

  • NB. We are watching nature in nature, so we are subject to sea conditions. We run up to 3 trips daily and confirm the times with you on the day.

Wear warm clothes and bring jackets.

Hint: If you wait for a perfect sunny day... it may never come! But that's OK, don't worry. The boat has plenty of covered-in space and the dolphins don't mind getting wet... A jacket and warm clothes makes all the difference to your enjoyment.

    Tip: Extend the Summer...
In April, May & June, take advantage of fewer passenger numbers, watch returning seabirds coming to nest on the cliffs, see the first calves of the season.
In September & October, enjoy watching the dolphins socialising in bigger groups, having fed well on salmon and mackerel; and observe seal pups lolling on storm beaches while their mothers keep watch in the water.

    The Sunset Trip
    (Charter only)

  • 4-4 1/2 hour evening cruise
  • Takes you around the tip of Loop Head
  • Nesting colonies of seabirds
  • Outstanding beauty & world famous geology
  • May-June-July
  • Adults only. No kids

What one of our passengers wrote:
“Many thanks again for a fabulous trip on the Draíocht... the entire experience surpassed even our wildest expectations. The boat trip alone, wildlife aside, in the mouth of the estuary was just stunning, with the beautiful Kerry mountains to one side and the amazing rock formations on the other... But to see the dolphins, and up so close, was a truly magical and unforgettable experience. They were breathtakingly beautiful. The seals, wild goats, gannets, guillemots and kittiwakes were all unexpected but wonderful bonuses.” K. Angus, Madrid

“Last year we went dolphin watching with Dolphinwatch in Carrigaholt. This is a very professional operation and I was greatly impressed. There is great emphasis on safety, which is very reassuring. The employees were friendly, helpful and well-informed. The trip itself was excellent and great value for money. We also found the dolphins to be extremely friendly, courteous and helpful.”
