Dolphinwatch Ecotourism:

"Responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment and improves the well-being of local people." (TIES, 1990)

Awarded Gold by Ecotourism Ireland. This award means that we comply with the highest standards set by Ecotourism Ireland, the only certification in Ireland whose criteria is recognised by the UN initiated GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) and offers an in-depth, comprehensive and practical approach to evaluation, training and audit.

Dolphinwatch is dedicated to the conservation of the resident group of Bottlenose Dolphins at the Mouth of the River Shannon and the protection of their habitat, an EU Special Area of Conservation. We endeavour to educate people by offering interpretation and the opportunity to engage in this natural marine heritage. We strive to use environmentally sustainable practices throughout our business and to contribute to the success of the local economy.

We strive for efficient boat fuel comsumption during our trips. In 2014, the carbon footprint per passenger, was 1.5kg. - a reduction of 1/3 since 2011.   Here is a link to a Carbon Calculator Tool.

We believe in the ethics of Leave No Trace as everyone should...leave only your foot prints & in our case, only our wake.
